Objectives

The objectives of the Master in Psychomotor Rehabilitation are:

  • to encourage ​​in-depth knowledge in the area of Psychomotor Rehabilitation (viewing persons with disability, disorders/disturbances), in its multiple scientific and methodological aspects, by promoting multidisciplinary reflective skills;
  • to develop the ability to plan, manage and coordinate Psychomotor Rehabilitation services and/or programs in different contexts and intervention domains;
  • to develop the ability to provide innovative contributions in the design and implementation of new knowledge and new practices, as well as to develop new professional and political perspectives viewing the development of the professional and scientific framework of the area;
  • To develop critical scientific spirit viewing an adequate integration in research projects carried out in this area, and preferably in multidisciplinary teams or research centers.

Curricular Structure

The course is organized in two branches:

  • Research Activity
  • Development of Professional Skills

The predominant scientific area of the course is Special Education and Rehabilitation. The course is organized in the follwing scientific areas:

  • Pedagogy and Intervention Methodologies in Motor Activities (PMI) - 92 ECTS (compulsory)
  • Psychology and Motor Behavior (PCM) - 17 ECTS (compulsory)
  • Sociology, Cultural Studies and Management of Physical Activities and Sports (SEG) - 5 ECTS
  • Applied Mathematics and Statistics (MAE) - 6 ECTS

Comments: In the 2nd year of the Master, students choose either the Research Activity branch or the Development of Professional Skills branch. In the first case, when completing the 120 credits corresponding to the four semesters of this 2nd Cycle course, students obtain the Master Diploma in Psychomotor Rehabilitation – Research Activity Branch. In the second case, when completing the 120 credits corresponding to the four semesters of this 2nd Cycle course, students obtain the Master Diploma in Psychomotor Rehabilitation – Development of Professional Skills Branch.

Quantitative limitations
  • Numerus clausus: 50 (2 turmas)
  • Minimum number of student enrolled required to enable the course opening: 10
  • Number of vacancies allocated for applicants graduated in the special period of examinations to complete the undergraduate course: 4
  • Number of vacancies allocated for the attendance of isolated course units:
    • 10 vacancies in each of the following course units: Avaliação e Intervenção em Saúde Mental; Inclusão Socioeducativa; Neuropsicologia; Temas Aprofundados em Desenvolvimento Humano; Formação Profissional e Organização do Trabalho; Temas Aprofundados em Perturbações do Desenvolvimento e da Aprendizagem; Avaliação e Intervenção em Perturbações do Desenvolvimento e da Aprendizagem
    • 15 vacancies in each of the following course units: Temas Aprofundados em População com Deficiência; Avaliação e Intervenção no Apoio à Vida Independente.

Specific admission requirements | Ranking Criteria

Selection Criteria:

  1. Holders of a Degree or legal equivalent;
  2. Holders of a foreign Higher Education Degree awarded after the completion of a 1st cycle of studies organized according to the Bologna Process, by a State adhering to this process;
  3. Holders of a foreign academic Degree recognized by the FMH Scientific Board for meeting the objectives of an undergraduate degree;
  4. d. Holders of a school, scientific or professional curriculum, that may be recognized by FMH Scientific Board to prove the ability to follow this cycle of studies.

Ranking Criteria:

1. Overall result in the Degree

1-5 scoring, according to the Degree awarded and corresponding final overall result:

  • Degree in similar areas to Psychomotor Rehabilitation, with overall final result of 10-15;
  • Degree in similar areas to Psychomotor Rehabilitation, with overall final result of 16-20;
  • Degree in Psychomotor Rehabilitation or Special Education and Rehabilitation, with overall final result of 10-13;
  • Degree in Psychomotor Rehabilitation or Special Education and Rehabilitation, with overall final result of 14-15;
  • Degree in Psychomotor Rehabilitation or Special Education and Rehabilitation, with overall final result of 16-20 or Master course in another similar area.

2. Academic, scientific, and technical curriculum

Scoring 1-5, in the following parameters:

  • Graduated or post-graduated training/education in Psychomotor Rehabilitation;
  • Other graduated or post-graduated training/education in similar areas;
  • Participation in research projects;
  • Member of the Organizing Committee of scientific events;
  • Presentations in scientific events (free communication, workshop, poster);
  • Publications;
  • Participation as assistant in Congresses, Seminars, Conferences and other relevant events;
  • Prizes and awards.

3. Professional experience in the area of the course

Mean score 1-5, in the following parameters:

  • Professional activities performed in the area of Psychomotor Rehabilitation;
  • Professional activities performed in similar areas.

Specific admissions conditions to the 2nd year of the Development of Professional Skills branches:

Only candidates holding a Degree in 1st cycle Psychomotor Rehabilitation, Special Education and Rehabilitation, or Human Kinetics - Motricity and Psychomotor Rehabilitation Branch, will be admitted, in the 2nd year, in the Development of Professional Skills Branch.

Candidates coming from other Degrees my only enroll, in the 2nd year of the Master, in the Research Activities Branch.

Total amount: 3.200,00€ (2.240,00€ in the 1st year + 960,00€ in the 2nd year)
